Political Funds Misuse and The S&M Club

Honesty and politicians, its either an oxymoron or just a conspiracy theory, who knows?

Take Yukio Obuchi former Minister of Trade and Industry in Japan who was forced to resign over misuse of political funds.   During her news conference she insisted that no stone would be left unturned as she and her staff investigated themselves in search of the truth.   Seeking elective office and getting people to vote for you is no easy task. So, how might one get voters to remember you? Cash payments,  kick-backs,  government contracts or the ubiquitous paper fan.

But, not just any paper fan mind you, one with your picture on it.  Midori Matsushima the former Justice Minister resigned after it was discovered she'd handed out paper fans with her face printed on them to her constituents during a local summer festival.  The political opposition accused her of corruption and attempting to buy votes with these fans.  Which, given their ungodly value of a 1/10 of a cent one can see how these might lead to vote buying

Our elected leaders are always seeking new and better ways to make those supposed scandals look minor league or just plain silly.

Koichi Kishi a member of Japan's Upper House of Parliament has a problem with his campaign funds reporting documents.  It's not what one would call the usual indiscretions associated with an elected official.  Granted politicians are people and have the usual faults.  That said, in this case maybe those imperfections should have been kept to ones self.

What did his financial disclosure documents show political funds being used for? Why a trip to an S&M club in Roppongi.   Mr. Kishi's spokesperson stated that he was the one who visited the establishment in question.

The visit on May 17 to the SM bar in Roppongi is the stand-out entry.
“Men are charged 10,000 yen per hour while women need pay only 2,000 yen stay as long as they’d like,” says a writer covering the fuzoku (sex-related) trade. “The atmosphere encourages gentlemen with similar tastes to gather.”
The Web site for the establishment, which is not named but a Google search reveals it to be fetish bar Mistress (@mistresscojp), shows photographs of female employees using of whips, ropes and candle wax on male customers, some of whom are attired in gimp masks.
“Although the live show is not over-the-top as far as erotic content, female customers are able to change into a number of different costumes,” continues the writer. “On occasion, customers will get tied up and things could get out of hand as far as a compromising situation developing. Now, as to whether this is appropriate for politicians, well…”
