North Korea fires four missiles into sea near Japan
Japan warns of security threat after three of four ballistic missiles land in its exclusive economic zone
Japan has lodged a protest and warned of grave threats to its security after North Korea launched four ballistic missiles on Monday morning, three of which fell into Japanese waters.
The exact type of missile fired was not immediately clear, but South Korea’s military said it was unlikely that they were intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), which can reach the US. An unnamed US official told Reuters that the US saw no indications that an ICBM had been tested.
According to the military in Seoul, the North fired the unidentified projectiles shortly after 7.30am local time from the Tongchang-ri region near its border with China. The area is home to the North’s Seohae satellite station, where it has conducted banned long-range rocket launches in recent years.

'Have you seen the young children, who are dying because of hunger? I have seen them. They live if we give them only food but no-one care'
The seven-year-old girl, who captured the world’s attention for tweeting the horrors of Aleppo, has written a letter to Theresa May, calling on the Prime Minister not to forget the “dying children” of Syria.
In her letter, Bana al-Abed wrote: “I am looking for help for the suffering of the people of Syria. Can you send them medicine, doctors, water and milk?
“Have you seen the young children, who are dying because of hunger? I have seen them. They live if we give them only food but no-one cares.
Jewish communities in US rally against wave of bomb threats
Since the beginning of 2017, there has been a wave of bomb threats aimed at Jewish organisations across the United States, and several Jewish cemeteries have been vandalised. While it’s unclear if these events represent a rise in anti-Semitism in the country, we spoke to Observers who are a part of the targeted Jewish communities to understand how these communities are feeling.
A project by ProPublica to document hate has reported that at least 91 different Jewish organisations across the United States, sweeping from east to west, have received bomb threats since January 1, 2017. None of the threats have actually been carried out.
The threatening calls began on January 4, and then came in stops and starts over the next few weeks, with the largest bulk of calls reported on February 27, when 35 threats were made to 35 different Jewish organisations.
The threats are called in anonymously, and often take the form of a “robocall”, where the speaker’s voice is disguised using pitch-changing software, making the voice sound robotic.

Updated 0206 GMT (1006 HKT) March 6, 2017
Three Muslim students who wanted to talk with an Oklahoma state legislator about Islam were told to fill out a questionnaire first, said a state leader of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
"Do you beat your wife?" said one question on the form Rep. John Bennett's assistant gave them. "Do you denounce the terrorist organization Hamas?" was another.
The law student and two high school students were shocked and insulted because the 17 questions were based on misinformation about the religion, said Adam Soltani, state director of CAIR.
Park, Choi colluded to receive bribes from Samsung: counsel
By Jung Min-ho
President Park Geun-hye conspired with her friend Choi Soon-sil to receive bribes from Samsung Group, the independent counsel team stated Monday.
Its investigation outcome is expected to deal a serious political blow to President Park, who is awaiting the Constitutional Court's decision on her impeachment.
Park Young-soo, the independent counsel who led the investigation over the last three months, said the President and Choi were a team, accusing them of closely cooperating to collect a bribe of 43 billion won ($37 million) from the company through various channels.
Bribery is the most serious criminal charge against Park, which could put her in prison for life as soon as her presidency ends.
Fukushima News: Deadly Nuclear Radiation Levels Baffle Scientists Trying To Build Robot To Survive Reactor
BY
The company in charge of the ruined Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant revealed Thursday it needed new ideas to design robots capable of surviving the high levels of radiation inside the site's reactors, which were damaged in a 2011 earthquake and its resulting tsunami.
The Tokyo Electric Power Company (Tepco) has hit a new obstacle since being tasked with cleaning up the worst nuclear incident since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in the Soviet Union. The exploratory robot, specially designed to navigate the underwater sections of the reactor, died last month after being exposed to "unimaginable" levels of radiation nearly nine times more potent than the previous highest dose recorded. Naohiro Masuda, president of Tepco's Fukushima Daiichi Decommissioning project, told reporters that the company had to rethink its methods in order to examine and extract the hazardous material stuck in the plant's second reactor.
