RNC 2020: Trump warns Biden will 'demolish' American dream


US President Donald Trump has warned his Democratic challenger Joe Biden will "demolish" the American dream if he wins the White House in November.
Speaking on the final night of the Republican convention, the president depicted his opponent as "the destroyer of American greatness".
He said the Democrats would unleash "violent anarchists" upon US cities.

Japan’s prime ministerShinzo Abe, has said he will resign because of his declining health, telling a shocked country that the return of a chronic bowel condition had left him unable to steer it through the coronavirus pandemic.
“Poor health should not influence political decisions, and as long as I am unable to meet the expectations of the Japanese people, I have decided that I cannot stay on as prime minister and will step down,” Abe told a televised news conference on Friday.
“In politics, the most important thing is to produce results. For seven years and eight months, I have done my best to get results, but I have been struggling with my illness and I need treatment.”

"We have to expect that some things will be even more difficult in the coming months than in summer," she said at a traditional summer news conference in Berlin.
"It is serious. As serious as it ever was. And keep taking it seriously," she said, adding: "We will have to keep living with this virus."

New Zealand spy agency investigating 'severe' cyberattack on stock exchange

New Zealand has ordered one of its spy agencies to investigate a cyberattack that originated overseas and disrupted the country's financial markets for a fourth consecutive day on Friday.
Finance minister Grant Robertson said the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) has been instructed to help New Zealand's Exchange (NZX), which has suffered periodic outages since Tuesday. The National Security System has also been activated, requiring government agencies to work together, he told reporters at a press conference.
"There are limits to what I can say today about the action the government is taking behind the scenes due to significant security considerations," Robertson said. "We as a government are treating this very seriously."

On August 17, Iraqi activists Lodia Remon, Abbas Subhi and Fahd al-Zubaidi were heading to the mourning ceremony for fellow activist Tahseen Oussama, who was killed in the southern city of Basra three days earlier, when armed men attacked them. Remon was shot in the leg and Subhi in the chest.
"I survived by a miracle. I still cannot stand on my feet and until now I am in shock," Remon told Al Jazeera. Subhi, who required surgery, also survived.
