Japanese Princess Mako has quietly married a commoner without traditional wedding celebrations and said their marriage "was a necessary choice to live while cherishing our hearts."
There are only 17 people left in the Japanese royal family and only one of them, a 15 year old boy is in line to ascend the throne. You can thank Japan's Liberal Democratic Party for this. Following the second world war they pass a law that forbid female members of the family to take the throne. Because of their short sighted stupidity and misogyny they've helped to bring an end to Japan's royal family.
