Shattered heritage
The 1991 and 2003 attacks on Iraq destroyed museums, libraries, theatres and heritage sites.
Media coverage of the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 focused on security, political, and economic impacts. But it neglected the destruction of Iraq’s heritage. This documentary focuses on the damage done to Iraqi art, music, theater, publishing houses, cultural institutions, as well as the looting of its antiquities.
The United States and its allies ignored the warnings of organizations and scholars concerning the protection of Iraq's cultural heritage, including museums, libraries, archaeological sites and other precious repositories. Arsonists badly burned the National Library and looters pillaged the National Museum. They also damaged or destroyed many historic buildings and artifacts. Coalition forces destroyed or badly damaged many historic urban areas and buildings, while thieves ruined thousands of unique, unprotected archeological sites.

Al Qaeda Subcontinent Branch Going In The Wrong Direction
After triumphantly announcing its latest franchise in the Subcontinent their first operation didn't go exactly as planned. In fact it was just a bonehead move. The objective if you can believe it was to attack a U.S. aircraft carrier in port in Karachi Pakistan. I don't know about you but attacking an aircraft carrier is like a flea attempting to attack an elephant and just as fruitless.
But hey, they're terrorists not usually the brightest bulbs in the bunch.
But hey, they're terrorists not usually the brightest bulbs in the bunch.
Fighters of the Islamic terror group branch that was unveiled two weeks ago had planned to storm an American aircraft carrier at a Karachi port, but found a Pakistani Navy ship in its place, The Telegraph reports. The attackers suffered heavy casualties as the Pakistani Navy easily overpowered their attempt. Three of the al-Qaeda fighters were killed and seven were arrested according to Pakistani officials. Two Pakistani Naval guards were wounded.
"It was a complete failure, they did not do any kind of damage, some were captured and we caught more, seven so far and may be more to come. They were well-equipped and came with the intention of taking a ship into their custody but they were caught in the initial stages," an investigation source told The Telegraph.
