Germany's far-right AfD wins Saxony-Anhalt state elections.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is "very, very close" to taking power in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, its deputy parliamentary leader has told the BBC, after a historic victory in elections there.

Sunday's preliminary results show it fell three seats short of an outright majority, with 43.8% of the vote. It is now seeking support from other parties or individuals in order to govern.

Alternative für Deutschland  is a far right populist political party was founded on 6 February 2013 in Eastern Germany. They are known for their xenophobia, anti immigration policies, religious bigotry towards Muslims and support of the great replacement theory. ( The Camp of the Saints)

The party's plans for Saxony-Anhalt, which include segregating child refugees into special classes and setting up a task-force to help detain and deport migrants who no longer have the right to be in the state, are highly controversial within Germany.

They seem have to have taken inspiration from the Jim Crow Laws of the Southern United States.

German riot police clash with protesters attempting to block far-right AfD conference

Riot police have clashed with opponents of the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party on the streets of Erfurt in Germany, where thousands met to block roads and prevent AfD delegates from attending the party’s biennial national conference to elect its leadership.

Police reported 20,000 protesters were demonstrating in the eastern city, where Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla are expected to be re-elected as the party’s co-leaders in the run-up to crucial regional elections in which AfD could win power at state level for the first time. Their opponents, led by the 'Resistance' alliance, staged sit-in blockades in the city centre in an attempt to prevent the AfD’s approximately 600 delegates from reaching the conference grounds
