Russian authorities say Ukrainian drones killed five people overnight, including a child. In Ukraine, authorities reported two people killed and dozens injured in Russian missile attacks. On a visit to Serbia, Ukraine's President Zelenskyy warns that Moscow is preparing a new mass mobilization.

Yemen's Houthis claim responsibility for fatal drone attack on Tel Aviv

On Friday, Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a drone strike on Tel Aviv. The attack hit an apartment building in the city center, killing one man and wounding at least 10 others. Israel says it's investigating how its defenses failed to prevent the strike, which deployed an Iranian-made drone. Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the strike was in retaliation for Israel's war in Gaza. The Houthis are an Iranian-backed rebel group that controls several provinces in Yemen, and is aligned with Hamas and Hezbollah. This is the first deadly Houthi strike on Israeli territory.

Russia's defence ministry has said three Ukrainian drones were downed on Sunday, with two crashing into offices.

Footage of an explosion near a Moscow building on Sunday was captured by nearby witnesses, and on a car's dashcam.

One person has been injured, Russia's state news agency Tass reports.

Russia accused Ukraine of being behind the attack and says one drone was shot down over the Odintsovo district, west of the city centre, and two others were neutralised but crashed into offices.

Ukrainian officials have not acknowledged the incident.

Video appears to show drone flying over Moscow

 

Video footage shared on social media appears to show a drone flying over the south west of Moscow.

Several buildings have been damaged in Russia's capital city after air defences shot drones down. It's the second drone incident in Moscow after an alleged attack on the Kremlin earlier in May.

The attack comes following a Russian attack on Ukraine's capital of Kyiv, in which one person was killed.

For years, the US has been using drone attacks to kill people suspected of involvement in terrorism. But these strikes kill civilians too. In August 2021, shortly after the Taliban captured Kabul, a US drone struck a car backing into a courtyard in the Afghan capital. The drone operators, who were thousands of kilometers away, believed they were tracking an ISIS terrorist and that the car contained explosives. They made the decision to fire the missile in a bid to head off an attack on troops and civilians.

For almost five hours, the North Korean drones flew above various South Korean cities, including Seoul. A drone attack targeted on Tuesday a Russian airfield in the border Kursk region. The attack comes one day after attacks on two military airfields deep inside Russian territory which killed three soldiers and injured four others. Russia blamed Ukraine for the attack on the Dyagilevo airfield in the Ryazan region and the Engels airfield in the Saratov region.

The Russian defence ministry confirmed the attacks on Monday, claiming two of its warplanes had been damaged when it intercepted two Ukrainian drones. For Kyiv the strike represented an unprecedented operation deep inside Russia to disrupt the Kremlin strategy of provoking a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine on the verge of winter.
