Ghosts of Gujarat: India bans the BBC’s Modi film

The Indian government’s decision to ban a BBC documentary about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in the 2002 Gujarat riots, which left more than a thousand people dead, has become its own story.

It has drawn global attention to Modi’s record in office and the subsequent decline of media freedom in the world’s largest democracy.

As Violence Over Citizenship Breaks Out Trump Praises Religious Freedom In India

As Donald Trump completed his two day visit to India he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for fostering religious freedom in the country while a short distance away riots were taking place and people were dying protesting the Citizen Amendment Act past by the Indian Parliament on 11 December 2020.

The act grants the right to refugee status for all religious minorities except Muslims.  Modi's  Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) is a nationalist Hindu party which has a history of anti Muslim discrimination and violence.  Narendra Modi was First Minister of Gujarat in 2002 when a wave of inter sectional violence swept the state.  Modi was accused of inciting the violence against the sates Muslim minority.  Because of that, Modi  was denied visas to inter the U.S.

In North-east Delhi on Day 3, violence spread and clashes broke out in new areas. Journalists were targeted, property damaged. The death toll rose to 13. And, after two days of failing to control the violence, police managed to clear some areas.

Around 7pm on Tuesday, a large posse of security personnel marched towards Chand Bagh, a Muslim-dominated locality in north-east Delhi, as reports of violence reached their wireless sets. In another half-hour, an armed mob gathered near a petrol pump in Gokalpuri and torched two vehicles, forcing the police to send a fresh deployment in the neighbourhood, less than 2km from Chand Bagh.
It continued over 24 hours as the violence spread from the Main Jafrabad Road and localities in vicinity to the large maze of narrow interconnected lanes across north-east Delhi in the last 24 hours.

Two Things Trump Loves: Walls And Hating Journalists

Donald Trump will be traveling to India for two days next week to insure that the racist fool who hates the poor isn't confronted by such unpleasantness. The Indian government has built a half-kilometer long wall to protect the Orange Assholes eyes from having to see how the poor really live.   Additionally the government of Gujarat is evicting 45 families from their near the cricket stadium where a love fest of hate will be held.  A similar event took place last fall in Houston for Narendra Modi.    Modi is the former First Minister of Gujarat.

As very one knows the Mango Moron has a great affinity for walls that are to marginalize those he sees as lesser or other.  In other words anyone who isn't white and not him.

China has announced that three journalists from the Wall Street Journal will have the press credentials revoked and be expelled from the country following the publishing of an opinion column which criticized that governments handling of the coronavirus outbreak.

Donald Trump love to have that kind of power.  Press censorship carried out at his whim as hates any reporting which casts him in an unpleasant or negative light.  If how the power he'd imprison all the journalists from those news outlets that believes are not only enemies of the state but his enemies as well.

The Front Runner To Be India's Next Prime Minister Doesn't Like Immigrants

Narendra Modi was chief Minister of Gujarat when rumors spread that 60 Hindus killed on a burning train had been caused by an attack by Muslims.  In the ensuing violence that followed somewhere between 900 and 2,000 muslims were killed by Hindu mobs in retaliation.  Mr. Modi was accused of inciting the mobs through the actions taken by his government.

The 2002 Gujarat violence, also known as 2002 Gujarat riots and the Gujarat pogrom[1][2] was a three-day period of inter-communal violence in the western Indian state of Gujarat. Following the initial incident there were further outbreaks of violence in Ahmedabad for three weeks; statewide, there were further outbreaks of mass killings against the minority Muslim population for three months.[3][4] The burning of a train in Godhra on 27 February 2002, which caused the deaths of 58 people including Hindu activists returning from Ayodhya, is believed to have triggered the violence.[5][6] Some commentators, however, hold the view that the attacks had been pre-planned, were well orchestrated, and that the attack on the train was a "staged trigger" for what was actually premeditated violence.[7][8]

According to official figures, the riots resulted in the deaths of 790 Muslims and 254 Hindus; 2,500 people were injured non-fatally, and 223 more were reported missing.[9] Other sources estimate that up to 2,000 Muslims died.[10] There were instances of rape, children being burned alive, and widespread looting and destruction of property. Chief Minister Narendra Modi has been accused of initiating and condoning the violence, as have police and government officials who allegedly directed the rioters and gave lists of Muslim-owned properties to them.[11]In 2012, Modi was cleared of complicity in the violence by a Special Investigation Team appointed by the Supreme Court of India. The Muslim community are reported to have reacted with "anger and disbelief" and activist Teesta Setalvad has said that the legal process was not yet complete as there existed a right to appeal.[12] In July 2013 allegations were made that the SIT had suppressed evidence.[13] That December, an Indian court upheld the earlier SIT report and rejected a petition seeking Modi's prosecution.[14] In April 2014, the Supreme Court expressed satisfaction over the SIT's investigations in nine cases related to the violence, and rejected as "baseless" a plea contesting the SIT report.[15]

Hindu nationalist Narendra Modi, the prime ministerial front-runner in India's mammoth general election, on Sunday reiterated his strong stance against illegal immigrants, just days after a wave of sectarian killings in the north-eastern state of Assam.
India is in the home stretch of a five-week election in which Modi's opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) looks set to emerge as the biggest group and which has heightened ethnic and religious tensions in many parts of the country.
India deployed troops in Assam on Saturday after more than 30 Muslims were gunned down in three days of what police said were attacks by Bodo tribal militants, who resent the presence of settlers they claim are illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.
