At the start of the war, as Russian troops attempted to take over Snake Island in the Black Sea, Ukrainian troops fired back the now infamous retort: "Russian warship, go f**k yourself." 

Russia withdraws from Snake Island: Moscow's forces abandon strategic Black Sea outpost

Russia on Thursday withdrew from Snake Island, a craggy speck of land in the Black Sea, handing Ukraine a symbolically potent political victory and depriving Moscow of a strategic outpost for its air defences and electronic warfare systems.

Snake Island becomes focal point in Black Sea between Russia and Ukraine

 

Snake Island is situated 200 kilometers south of the Ukrainian city of Odesa. Russia seized it at the start of its invasion. The island is seen as vital to Moscow in its bid to control the western Black Sea.
