Osaka Police Fight Crime The Old Fashion Way: They Cover It Up

Osaka is known as Japan's capital of crime.  With that in mind and wanting to clean-up the cities image the Osaka Prefectural police decided the best method for doing this was to  "See No Evil."   Look how well it worked out Tokyo was elevated to Japan's number one crime city while Osaka looked as fresh as a spring garden.

The revelation came when embarrassed authorities said they had kept the data out of national crime statistics between 2008 and 2012.
The deception, which amounted to nearly 10% of all crimes in the area during that period, meant that Tokyo appeared to have the worst national crime figures.
The vast majority of covered-up crimes were for theft—including tens of thousands of stolen vehicle and bicycle cases—but hundreds of more serious offences such as muggings and even murder may have been omitted from official crime data, the Asahi newspaper reported.

With Japan's "high crime" rate the police spend most of their working hours searching for stolen bicycles or failing that accuse you of stealing your own bicycle.  Makes for great police work.

 The force’s top brass denied that they had ordered underlings to hide the data, and nearly 100 officers were reprimanded over the deception, they said.But lower-ranking officers have told major media that authorities were under heavy pressure from a popular regional politician to change the city’s image as a hotbed of criminality.

Who could that popular regional politician be?  Toru Hashimoto maybe?  Osaka's racist, history denying, imperial Japan loving mayor.

The Irony Is In The Name: Ishihara, old guard launch Next Generation Party

Shintaro Ishihara the former governor of Tokyo has formed yet another political party given the appropriate name Next Generation.  Ishihara is 81 and the other founding members are all over 70 yet they represent the "Next Generation."

Ishihara's previous party Japan Restoration was formed with Osaka Toru Hashimoto who is a younger version of Ishihara.  Racist, ultra nationalist and historical revisionist.

The 81-year-old Ishihara, a fixture on the fringes of government for decades, has been in search of a new moniker for his party of mostly-elderly men since falling out with Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto, with whom he jointly led the Japan Restoration Party.
The grouping of about 20 lawmakers include sworn allies, 74-year-old Takeo Hiranuma, Hiroyuki Sonoda, 72, and Nariaki Nakayama, 71, as well as wrestler-turned-politician Antonio Inoki, 71.
At a press event to reveal the party’s name, whose official English translation has not yet been decided, the firebrand Ishihara noted: “The situation that faces young people today is different from what we experienced.”

He's partly responsible for the current diplomatic chill between China and Japan when in February of 2012 he began soliciting private funds to purchase the Senkaku island from their private owner living in Saitama.

Toru Hashimoto the mayor of Osaka gave a speech in Tokyo castigating Allied Forces in World War II for setting up military run brothels just like the Japanese Imperial Army did in Asia.  Of course there is no historical evidence to back this morons assertions but that won't impede a racist, ultra-nationalist,  war crimes denier and historical revisionist like Toru Hashimoto.

It's rather amusing that this idiot was once considered to be a future Prime Minister of Japan.

Osaka Mayor Toru Hashimoto, who was once seen as a future prime minister, argued in a weekend speech that Japan must admit its own historical wrongdoings while also pointing out the mistakes of others, the Mainichi Shimbun said.
“After landing in Normandy, allied soldiers raped French women. ‘Comfort stations’ were built after things became too much,” he said in the speech, using a euphemism for brothels, according to the newspaper.
“It is a historical fact. It is an unfortunate past. We must never repeat it,” he said in the public address.

What ever drugs this classless conservative fool is taking he'd better stop or he'll find himself completely marginalized from politics. Wait, no he won't because the rest of Japan's so called political elite are just like him.    

Abe Defends Hashimoto Blames: The Moron Festival Continues

Shinzo Abe who views history through a blind fold and Toru Hashimoto who thinks comfort women are really figments of someone eles imagine continue to follow the mighty river of stupidity in a vain attempt to justify their beliefs.    

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe defended in an interview on Friday the right of Japan’s leaders to visit a controversial shrine to war dead but hit back at critics who accuse him of revisionism.
Amid the latest flare-up with China and South Korea over history, Abe quoted a U.S. scholar as comparing Yasukuni Shrine to Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, which has a section for Confederate Civil War dead.
“I am of a view that we can make a similar argument about Yasukuni, which enshrines the souls of those who lost their lives in the service of their country,” Abe told the policy magazine Foreign Affairs.

Unfortunately  for the walnut sized brain which resides inside Shinzo's head these two places are not the same.  None of the soliders buried in Arlington National Cemetery are convicted War Criminals.

Nippon Ishin no Kai (Japan Restoration Party) coleader Toru Hashimoto, the Osaka mayor in hot water for apparently trying to justify Japan’s wartime sex slaves, said Friday that the public’s “lack of reading comprehension” has caused the current situation in which his remarks have been “misunderstood.”
The embattled outspoken politician also said he will shut out the media from any reporting opportunities except for his official news conferences.
Facing reporters at City Hall in the evening, Hashimoto blamed the media for perpetrating “big misreporting,” without delving into specifics. He stressed that he has never endorsed Japan’s wartime military brothel system but said his remarks have been taken to suggest otherwise.
“I hope people will have the ability to read and understand (my remarks),” he said.

The head of the junior misogyny league is pissed because?  People actually understood what he  meant when during his press conference last Monday he described comfort women as being necessary to keep the war crime tendencies of the Japanese Imperial Army in check.
