Aya, a Syrian teenager in Denmark, is threatened with deportation to a place she cannot remember. Under a hostile immigration system, Denmark has begun trying to send back refugees from Damascus, claiming the city is now safe under the dictatorship of Bashar al-Assad. Aya's brothers are allowed to stay, since if they returned they would have to join the military. We join Aya at her graduation surrounded by her schoolmates, teachers, friends and family who are rallying around her as she fights to stay

Djokovic deportation: The fallout in Australia and Serbia

 

Novak Djokovic has left Australia after losing his appeal against his visa cancellation. He was deported after judges upheld a decision by the immigration minister that the unvaccinated tennis star posed a threat to public health. It comes after a 10-day legal battle that began when Djokovic arrived to compete in the Australian Open. He was hoping for an unprecedented 21st men's Grand Slam win.

Novak Djokovic, Tennis Australia and the government of New South Wales really believed that they could just circumvent COVID-19 protocols and no one would notice. Australian Border Force noticed, that not only was his visa information not accurate, that he didn't qualify for COVID-19 medical exemption.

Why Syrian refugees now fear deportation from Germany

 Germany is lifting an eight-year-long ban on deportations to Syria, creating a way to send people back to the devastated and dangerous country.

Greek police have been accused of beating up migrants and illegally deporting them back to Turkey. Reports that Greek security forces physically assaulted migrants emerged earlier this year, when thousands gathered in border areas after Turkey encouraged them to travel to Europe. But now DW and other investigative reporters have been able to confirm some stories of abuse and illegal deportations after tracking down victims in Turkey. They allege Greek police arrested them without a warrant and forced them on to boats back to Turkey.
