Ukraine war: Kyiv hit by new massive Russian drone attack
Russia has carried out a new massive drone attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv.
Kyiv's mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said a man died when drone wreckage fell near a petrol station. A woman was injured.
Overall, Russia launched a record 54 so-called kamikaze drones on Ukrainian targets, 52 of which were shot down, Ukraine's Air Force reported.
Russia - which launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022 - has stepped up its attacks on Kyiv, seeking to overwhelm the capital's defences.
At least two high-rise buildings in different districts of the capital caught fire after being hit by falling drone fragments.
Kyiv officials also reported that warehouses in the southern Holosiyivsky district had been set ablaze.

PM accused of violating constitution in inaugurating the building himself, instead of allowing president to do so
India’s prime minister has inaugurated a new parliament building amid a boycott that saw at least 20 opposition parties refuse to attend the ceremony.
The vast, triangular-shaped complex in the heart of Delhi will house the upper and lower parliamentary houses. It sits adjacent to the old circular parliament building that was constructed in 1927 during the colonial era, which will now be converted into a museum.
Vote count starts in Turkey’s crucial presidential run-off
The country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is seeking to extend his two decades in power
Votes are being counted in Turkey’s pivotal presidential run-off, with Recep Tayyip Erdogan seeking to strengthen his legacy as his nation’s most consequential leader since its founder, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, by extending his 20 years in power.
Mr Erdogan has been campaigning frenetically in the weeks since he exceeded polling forecasts but fell shy of an outright majority in the 14 May first round of the elections, forcing Turkey into a run-off for the first time in its history.
He faces off against Kemal Kilcdaroglu, leader of the centre-left People’s Republican Party (CHP) and architect of a six-party opposition coalition which has posed the greatest political challenge to Mr Erdogan in years.
"Systemically Excluded"The Women of Sierra Leone Have New Land-Ownership Rights
The situation escalates in the office of the lead district officer in Magburaka, located in the sparsely populated region of central Sierra Leone. A man, who had only a moment ago been sitting relaxed in his chair, suddenly jumps up and runs to the other end of the room, where several men are quarreling. They get closer and closer to each other, voices raised. A fight seems inevitable.
Then Susan Conteh begins yelling, her voice rising over those of others. "Enough!" She repeats the exhortation once, and then again. The district officer, a man with a soft voice and gentle gaze, seems overwhelmed. He had just left the room to make a phone call, and now this. Conteh shouts one last time and silence is restored. She begins handing out fines: five euros for the man on the left, another five euros for a man on the right. No one dares protest, not even the district officer, although it's actually his responsibility to issue monetary penalties.

S Korea’s Asiana Airlines bans emergency seats after door opens
The move comes after a passenger opened an emergency exit door midair, causing shock and panic on board.
South Korea’s Asiana Airlines has stopped selling some emergency exit row seats following an accident in which a passenger opened an emergency exit door midair causing panic on board.
The incident took place on an A321-200 plane, which was carrying nearly 200 passengers, as it approached the runway at Daegu International Airport, about 240km (150 miles) southeast of Seoul. The plane landed safely but several passengers were hospitalised. There were no serious injuries or damage.
The airline told the AFP news agency on Sunday the emergency exit seats – 31A and 26A – on its 14 A321-200 jets would no longer be offered for sale. “As a safety precaution, this measure will apply even if the flights are full,” it added.
