Coronavirus: Inside Seattle’s quarantine motel (video)
Ventilation system and open-air facing entrances make it a well-suited quarantine space
Gene Johnson
Hard surfaces, easy-to-clean floors and separate heating-and-cooling units in each room: the amenities offered by the suburban EconoLodge motel may not be fancy, but they were just what Seattle-area officials say they were looking for in a quarantine facility for coronavirus patients.
Officials in King County, which is dealing with the worst Covid-19 outbreak in the United States, announced this week that it is buying the motel for $4 million (£3.7m). The deal is expected to close on Friday and officials hope to have the first patients in within days.
But not everyone is putting out the welcome mat.

Coronavirus: six dead in Washington state as new cases reported across US
- About 75 confirmed cases in US
- Outbreak at nursing home near Seattle linked to four deaths
- Global death toll passes 3,000 – live updates
Amanda Holpuch and agencies
Washington state has seen six deaths from coronavirus, local health officials said Monday, as new cases were reported across the US.
There are now about 75 confirmed cases in the US.
An outbreak at an nursing home near Seattle was linked to four of the deaths. The fifth person to die was a man in his 50s and officials did not provide details on the sixth.
For Donald Trump the fact that six people have died is of no consequence to him. What's important is the stock market and how it effects his reelection.
Mike Pence, well he'll just ask you to pray it all away and you'll be fine.
The Trump administration couldn't handle two broken eggs out of a dozen as its just to complicated for them. As for their handling of the coronavirus outbreak? Just see hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
