Coronavirus tracing apps: False hope and hidden dangers?



Nations try to track and trace their way out of the corona crisis. Some see apps as essential. But so far apps have had limited success. Australia's has picked up only one case in a month. And privacy concerns remain, with a citizen's every move being monitored. Not everyone is keen on installing a tracing app on their phone. But in countries such as India, there's little choice.The Indian government has released a contact tracing app and people there must download the state-backed app if they want to travel.

Coronavirus: trial begins of mobile app to track infections


An app for mobile phones aimed at tracing the spread of coronavirus is to be tried out on the Isle of Wight, before being rolled out more widely across the UK. Between 50-60% of the population will need to use the software for it to be effective. Meanwhile the number of people being treated in hospital for coronavirus infection is continuing to fall.
