17 days trapped: How did they survive? | DW News


The workers had been stuck underground for seventeen days, after a landslide closed off the tunnel entrance. Rescuers had to drill through rock, earth and concrete to reach them, before pulling the men to safety through a pipe.

Riding the Underwater Bullet Train to Hokkaido JAPAN


 I set out to finally make the trip to the northern island of Hokkaido. In all of the times I have been to Japan, I never actually made it out there. So, I decided to go all the way to the northernmost tip of the country using my JR Rail Pass.

First up, I left Saitama and headed to Omiya Station. Omiya is in Saitama.

Japan’s Proposal for a Tunnel to Korea


 

Japan is considering constructing a $170 billion tunnel to South Korea, connecting itself to all of mainland Asia and beyond. A tunnel from Japan to Korea is very feasible and would have massive economic and political incentives.
