In October of 2012 gunmen associated with the Taliban boarded a school bus taking Malala Yousafzai and two friends home from school and asked "Who is Malala?" No one spoke but the gunmen recognized her and shot her in the head. Her crime? Advocating for the right of women to be educated.
Militants suspected of shooting activist Malala Yousafzai have been arrested, Pakistan's army says.
Hit list found
"The group involved in the attack on Malala Yousafzai has been arrested," army spokesman Gen Asim Bajwa told a news conference on Friday.
He said 10 members of the Pakistani TTP had been arrested in a joint operation with Pakistan's army, police and intelligence services.
The group had been working under the instructions of Mullah Fazlullah, the chief of the Pakistani Taliban, Gen Bajwa added.
He said the army had found a list of 22 prominent activists from the Swat area, who the group was planning to attack after Malala.
