What Is The Real Purpose Of Egypt's Pyramids?

Over the centuries many theories have floated as to not only who "really" built the pyramids in Egypt but what was their intended purpose? Was it as most archaeologists agree as burial tombs for deceased pharaohs or where they used for other, let's say more interesting things?

Perhaps they were used as landing platforms by the Goa'uld when they came to earth in their motherships? After all they were a more advanced race not forgetting their lust for power and megalomania.  Just a group of interstellar hard cases looking to expand their power base and better hosts. As they are parasitic creatures.

Dr. Ben Carson current day job running for President of the United States has posited another theory one while not quite as outlandish as the Goa'uld theory isn't much better.  Dr. Ben thinks they were used for, wait for it, granaries to stave off an approaching famine.

On Wednesday, BuzzFeed uncovered old footage of Ben Carson making some unusual comments in 1998: He rejected the widely held belief among archaeologists that most of the pyramids were built to serve as tombs for pharaohs, and suggested that biblical figure Joseph built the pyramids to store grain in preparation for a massive famine.
"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids in order to store grain," he said. "And all the archaeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs' graves. But you know, it would have to be something awfully big, if you stop and think about it. And I don't think it would just disappear over the course of time to store that much grain."
This is totally unsupported by the historical and archaeological evidence. As Carson acknowledges, his belief defies what most archaeologists believe to be the purpose of the pyramids. Despite this, Carson told CBS News on Wednesday that he still believes his idea to be true: "It's still my belief, yes."
I don't know about you?  Since archaeologists have found more than a few mummified remains inside the pyramids not to mention jewelery, precious medals, cloth, funeral masks and other artifacts including paintings on the walls showing the afterlife what would believe they were used for?

Landing pads for Goa'uld motherships of course.
