North Korea on 'maximum alert' after US threats

Pyongyang tells Washington its nuclear weapons are 'not an illusion' following US threats.

North Korea has warned its army is on "maximum alert" after the US vice president visited the heavily militarised border between the two Koreas and reiterated Washington's position that "all options are on the table" in dealing with Pyongyang.
Sin Hong-chol, North Korea's deputy foreign minister, told Al Jazeera in an exclusive interview on Monday that Donald Trump's administration "should look at the world with open eyes".
The only time that North Korea's nuclear programs have ever been reigned in were during the Clinton administration. When direct talks lead to an 8 year freeze on its nuclear development programs through the Agreed Framework.  Dealing with North Korea is infuriating at times due to its paranoid view of the world at large. Direct talks are it seems, are the only way forward no matter how odious. The pressures brought to bear on the government of North Korea aren't going to  force them to give up their nuclear arsenal as long as it finds legitimacy and respect from having such weapons.
