Beijing to impose Hong Kong security laws 'without delay'
China says it will rush through anti-sedition law as police fire teargas at protesters

Beijing has vowed to force controversial national security laws on Hong Kong “without the slightest delay” as police in the semi-autonomous territory fired teargas at protesters demonstrating against the unprecedented decision.
Speaking in Beijing, China’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, said enacting the proposed anti-sedition law to stop anti-government protests that have persisted for the past year had become a “pressing obligation”.
“We must get it done without the slightest delay,” he said.

It's now become clear exactly how Republicans might try to overturn a Biden victory in November

'It's party over country, and they will do whatever they can to hold on to power'

If you’ve paid any attention to the news over the past few days, you might come away with the impression that Michigan is where President Donald Trump’s hopes for reelection will rise or fall on November 3.
On Wednesday, the Great Lakes State was one of two he targeted with threats over election officials’ decision to mail absentee ballot request forms to every resident of that state.
“Michigan sends absentee ballot applications to 7.7 million people ahead of Primaries and the General Election. This was done illegally and without authorization by a rogue Secretary of State. I will ask to hold up funding to Michigan if they want to go down this Voter Fraud path!” Trump tweeted that afternoon, having been shamed into deleting a previous tweet which falsely claimed that actual ballots had been mailed out.

Gate to the UnderworldThe German Bunker that Became a Hub of International Crime

A former military facility in Germany’s Mosel region served as a hub for organized crime on the internet until 650 police shut it down in a raid. The bizarre story behind the bunker that is likely to produce countless criminal cases. By DER SPIEGEL Staff

Many paths lead to the small town of Traben-Trarbach, which is situated on Germany's Mosel River and famous for its much-visited "underworld" of wine cellars. Frankfurt-Hahn is located just 30 minutes away by car, a regional airport that was, at least until the arrival of the coronavirus, a budget airline hub. Situated on the southern bank of the river, the town is also dissected by Highway 53 to Trier and Highway 42 running between southwestern Germany and Belgium. Numerous other roads wind through the vineyards that line the river.

IN July 2010, I was working for a private news channel in the country when Airblue flight 202 crashed in Margalla Hills in Islamabad, killing all 152 souls on board. In the opening hour of the coverage, I noticed a graphic that started running on the channel’s screen, of a plane taking off from the bottom left, and crashing into a billowing ball of fire on the bottom right. This occurred in a loop, roughly every 10 seconds. When flagged, the director news (to his credit) immediately took it off air and chastised the newsroom shift-in-charge.
This small example illustrates Pakistani broadcast media’s inability to rationalise ethics in journalism, mowing down every conceivable standard in their relentless pursuit of being the ‘first’, ‘biggest’, or ‘best’.

Report: Brazil's indigenous people are dying at an alarming rate from Covid-19

By Shasta Darlington, Jose Brito, and Flora Charner, CNN

Far from hospitals and often lacking basic infrastructure, Brazil's indigenous people are dying at an alarming rate from Covid-19 with little help in sight.

The mortality rate is double that of the rest of Brazil's population, according to advocacy group Articulation of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil (APIB) which tracks the number of cases and deaths among the country's 900,000 indigenous people.

Nasa SpaceX launch: Astronauts complete rehearsal for historic mission

Nasa astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken have completed their dress rehearsal for Wednesday's flight to the International Space Station.
The mission, the first crewed outing from American soil in nine years, will see the pair ride to orbit in a SpaceX Falcon rocket and Crew Dragon capsule.
It's a demonstration of the new "taxi" service the US space agency will be buying from the Californian firm.
