Rights group seeks probe into role of tech firms, media platforms in killings of Gaza civilians
A human rights group has said that the role of major technology companies and international social media platforms in the killing of Palestinian civilians in Gaza must be investigated.
“These companies need to be held accountable if found to be complicit or not to have taken adequate precautions to prevent access to, and exploitation of, users’ information,” the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said.
There are frequent reports that Israel uses a number of artificial intelligence-supported technological systems to illegally track and monitor Palestinians, the group said.

Heavy rainfall over several days has sparked fears that heavy flooding could hit parts of southern China.

Heavy rain since Thursday
Large parts of Guangdong province have been soaked by torrential rain since Thursday, swelling major rivers and waterways in the Pearl River Delta.
The region is one the most densely populated parts of China with more than 127 million inhabitants and is also home to China's manufacturing hub.
Corrosion found in treated radioactive water tanks at Fukushima plant
Corrosion has been found on the inside of tanks used to store treated radioactive water at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, its operator has revealed.
Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc said there are no problems with the strength of the tanks, but added that some of the more than 1,000 containers at the plant were installed over 10 years ago and have aged over time.
A TEPCO official said the operator will continue to inspect the tanks.
Israel blasts reported plan to sanction IDF battalion
The Israeli government has responded with indignation after a report that the United States plans to sanction a West Bank unit of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Under the reported plan, members of the Netzah Yehuda unit — which is accused of human rights breaches — would be barred from receiving US military support or training.
A report by the US news outlet Axios said it had information from three US government sources that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken would announce the sanctions within days.
