Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has invited Donald Trump to visit his country before any deal is struck with Russia to end the war.

"Please, before any kind of decisions, any kind of forms of negotiations, come to see people, civilians, warriors, hospitals, churches, children destroyed or dead," Zelensky said in an interview for CBS's 60 Minutes programme.

The interview was recorded before a Russian missile hit the city of Sumy on Sunday, killing 34 people and injuring 117 others.

Sudan’s news blackout stokes fear and confusion after refugee camp attacks

Families of those displaced wait for news from Darfur amid reports of hundreds killed by paramilitary RSF

Sudan’s information blackout has left relatives of those in Sudan’s Zamzam refugee camp struggling for news of their safety after it was overrun by militiamen at the weekend.

As leaders across the globe prepared to meet for peace talks in London to pressure the backers of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese army to agree a ceasefire, the RSF launched a deadly assault that led to it seizing Zamzam after weeks of tightening its siege.

Hungary passes constitutional changes targeting LGBTQ rights

New amendments pushed through by Prime Minister Viktor Orban's Fidesz party constitution are aimed at permanently banning Pride events and other rights.

Hungarian lawmakers on Monday voted to approve new constitutional changes proposed by the populist ruling party that target the LGBTQ community, including by codifying into law a ban on Pride events, and a provision proclaiming that people can only be male or female.

The amendments were expected to easily pass due to leader Viktor Orban's Fidesz party's two-thirds majority, along with the likely support of far-right lawmakers.

Some of Monday's amendments underpin legislation passed on March 18 that banned the annual Pride march in the country, which effectively restricted freedom of assembly.

Algeria orders expulsion of 12 French embassy officials, reigniting tensions

Algeria has ordered 12 French embassy officials to leave the country within 48 hours, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said Monday. The move appears to be a response to the arrest of three Algerians in France suspected of involvement in the kidnapping of exiled influencer and Algerian government opponent Amir Boukhours, also known as "Amir DZ".

Fresh tensions flared between France and Algeria on Monday as the French foreign minister said its former colony had ordered 12 French officials to leave in 48 hours.

The announcement was linked to the arrest of three Algerian nationals in France, Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said.

For decades, ties between France and Algeria have gone through diplomatic upheavals, and Monday's announcement comes at a delicate time in relations and underscores the difficulties in repairing ties.

China's Xi says there are 'no winners' in a tariff war as he visits Southeast Asia

By HUIZHONG WU and ANIRUDDHA GHOSAL

China's leader Xi Jinping started a week of diplomacy in Southeast Asia with a visit to Vietnam on Monday, signaling China' s commitment to global trade, just after U.S. President Donald Trump upended the global economy with his latest tariffs moves.

Although Trump has paused some tariffs, China was the outlier, as he has kept in place 145% tariffs on the world's second-largest economy.

Xi's visit this week lets China show Southeast Asia it is a “responsible superpower in the way that contrasts with the way the U.S. under President Donald Trump presents to the whole world," said Nguyen Khac Giang, a visiting fellow at Singapore’s ISEAS–Yusof Ishak Institute.

Indonesia has arrested three judges who cleared a trio of oil companies of charges related to the illegal export of crude palm oil.

Wilmar Group, Musim Mas Group and Permata Hijau Group were acquitted last month by a Jakarta anti-corruption court of engaging in misconduct to obtain export permits in 2022.

On Sunday night, the attorney general’s office arrested the three judges who made the ruling, Reuters reported.
