US Vice-President JD Vance said his country would "walk away" unless Ukraine and Russia agree on a deal, echoing recent comments from US officials.

His warning came after London talks between officials from the UK, France, Germany, Ukraine and the US aimed at securing a ceasefire were downgraded after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff pulled out.

The US is focused on talks this week in Moscow, where Witkoff will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin for the fourth time, as the pace of diplomacy to end the war quickens.

Indian security forces hunt militants after 26 tourists killed in Kashmir attack

Incident apparently involving four gunmen is worst attack on civilians in India since Mumbai shootings in 2008

Indian security forces fanned out across the Himalayan region of Kashmir as the army and police launched a massive manhunt for the perpetrators of a militant attack on Tuesday that killed at least 26 tourists.

The search progressed as India’s defence minister said those who carried out and planned the Kashmir region’s worst attack on civilians in years would see a swift response, including those “behind the scenes”.

“Those responsible and behind such an act will very soon hear our response, loud and clear,” Rajnath Singh said in a speech in New Delhi, a day after gunmen killed 26 men.

Kenya: Kidney probe launched, clinic denies allegations

The Kenyan clinic at the center of allegations of organ trafficking has denied any wrongdoing and promised to cooperate fully with a criminal investigation. It follows an investigation by DW and two other German outlets.

Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Wednesday launched a full-scale probe into reports of illegal organ trafficking as a clinic at the center of the allegations strongly denied any wrongdoing, according to media reports in the East African country.

The investigation, which is being led by the DCI's elite Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) under Director Mohamed Amin, comes a day after Kenyan health authorities ordered the suspension of all kidney transplant operations at Mediheal Group clinics until further notice.

200 French media publications sue Meta, alleging unlawful business practices

A group of 67 French media companies representing 200 publications has filed a lawsuit against Facebook parent company Meta, accusing the tech giant of unlawful business practices in the digital advertising sector. The companies claim Meta's dominance is based on illegal data collection and targeted advertising. The case, filed in Paris, adds to growing legal pressure on Meta across Europe.

French media companies, including TF1, France TV and BFM TV, are suing Facebook owner Meta over what they say are unlawful business practices, law firms representing them said.

In the latest in a series of European legal actions against Meta, the lawsuit was filed on Wednesday before the Paris business tribunal court by a group of 67 media companies representing 200 publications.

Apart from the television companies, those involved include business daily Le Figaro, Lagardère, L'Express, La Depêche, Libération, Radio France and Centre France.

Japan wants to 'separate' tariff and security issues. That may be tough.

Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba wants to separate negotiations on tough U.S. tariffs from security-related discussions — but disentangling the two will prove a challenge as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to voice long-held complaints about the alliance’s fairness.

Ishiba has repeatedly said over the last week that the two issues must be dealt with separately, following Trump’s latest gripes that the 65-year-old security alliance is “one-sided.”

Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed 39 people and injured 105 in last 24 hours, the enclave’s Health Ministry says.

More Palestinians have succumbed to their burn wounds after an Israeli strike hit their shelter in Gaza City overnight, raising the death toll there to at least 13, with reports of six people remaining under the rubble.

The school-turned-shelter was one of several sites hit in Gaza on Wednesday. Gaza’s civil defence said four more bodies were pulled from two nearby homes.
