‘Death and hunger’: Videos, expert analysis and witnesses point to Israeli gunfire in Gaza aid site shooting
A CNN investigation into a deadly incident near an aid distribution site in southern Gaza on Sunday points to the Israeli military opening fire on crowds of Palestinians as they tried to make their way to the fenced enclosure to get food.
More than a dozen eyewitnesses, including those wounded in the attack, said Israeli troops shot at crowds in volleys of gunfire that occurred sporadically through the early hours of Sunday morning. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), the US and Israeli-backed aid initiative that runs the site, said that Israeli forces were operating in the area during the same period.

A Hungarian law banning content about LGBTQ+ people from schools and primetime TV has been found to violate basic human rights and freedom of expression by a senior legal scholar at the European court of justice.
The non-binding opinion from the court’s advocate general, Tamara Ćapeta, issued on Thursday, represents a comprehensive demolition of the arguments made by the Hungarian government defending its so-called childprotection law, passed in 2021.
Brazil's Lula urges Macron to 'open your heart' to EU-Mercosur trade deal
Speaking during his first state visit to France Thursday, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva urged his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to back an EU trade deal with four Latin American countries. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Thursday urged his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron to support a long-delayed trade deal between the European Union and the South American bloc Mercosur.
"I will not leave the Mercosur presidency without having concluded the trade deal," Lula told a press conference alongside Macron in Paris, referring to the pro-tempore presidency of the bloc he holds for the second half of 2025.

In the heart of the Texas desert, a Stryker is parked near a stretch of border wall. The light but powerful eight-wheeled combat vehicle was used in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars – and now is being used to stop what US President Donald Trump has called an "invasion" at the US-Mexico border.
The Stryker is just one of about 100 such vehicles being used along the 3,100 km border. In addition, it is estimated there are over 8,000 soldiers, as well as spy planes and drones, and two Navy ships monitoring the coast.
In War-Torn Nations, Trump’s Travel Ban Brings a New Hardship
For people in countries like Afghanistan and Myanmar, the president’s order dimmed hopes for sanctuary in the United States.
In recent years, people in Myanmar have endured a military coup, civil war, enforced conscription, aerial bombardment and a devastating earthquake. A new hardship landed Thursday morning, as President Trump ordered a sweeping travel ban that included the citizens of Myanmar.
The action is an effort to stop immigration from nations that Mr. Trump deemed to have a “large-scale presence of terrorists,” among other concerns. The travel ban, announced by the president on Wednesday night in Washington, is set to take effect on Monday. It applies to the people of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
