China reports 60,000 COVID-related deaths, says peak passed

In December of 2019 Dr. Li Wenliang from Wuhan posted a message about the outbreak of the coronavirus on a physicians forum trying to warn his fellow doctors about what was to come. Three days later Dr. Li was paid a visit by the police and was told to stop posting such information. With that, the government of China began its cover-up of how wide spread and contagious the virous was. Dr. Li Wenliang died in February of 2020 following being infected by a patient.

Now, more than 3 years of zero covid and cover-ups they announced that 60,000 people had died from the virous snice December.

Those numbers may still underestimate the toll, though the government said the “emergency peak" of its latest surge appears to have passed.

The toll included 5,503 deaths due to respiratory failure caused by COVID-19 and 54,435 fatalities from other ailments combined with COVID-19 since Dec. 8, the National Health Commission announced. It said those “deaths related to COVID” occurred in hospitals, which means anyone who died at home would not be included in the numbers.

@奥杰塔Odette: 李医生,谢谢你曾尝试拯救地球
@奥杰塔Odette: Dr. Li, thank you for trying to save the world.

Dr. Li had been an avid user of Weibo, China’s rough equivalent of Twitter, since 2011. He posted his last message on Feb. 1. “Today the nucleic acid test result is positive,” he wrote of the test that confirmed he had been infected by the coronavirus. “The dust has settled, and the diagnosis is finally confirmed.” He died five days later.
Under that post, Weibo users have left more than 870,000 comments. Some people post a few times a day, telling him how their mornings, afternoons and evenings went. Only posts by China’s biggest actors and pop stars can match those numbers, but even those lack the visceral response that Dr. Li’s last post has drawn.
@非法期望: Dr. Li, I have a crush on a girl.
@至暗灯塔: 生活过得一团糟,可能不久就要离婚了
@至暗灯塔: My life is a mess. I’ll probably get divorced soon.
@隔离香菇: 我好像抑郁了一样
@隔离香菇:I think I may have depression.

China Wants To Rewrite Its Coronavirus Failures

The Chinese Communist government has ratcheted up its efforts to rewrite history to cover up its failure to contain the coronavirus outbreak.  Li Wenliang who tried to warn other doctors about the outbreak was at first detained by the security services and told not disparage the state.  What followed was a complete cock-up leading not only to uncontrolled outbreak but, the death of Li Wenliang.  His death caused serious outrage  among social media users in China on Weibo .  It wasn't until March that the Chinese Communist government finally and I'm sure reluctantly issued a statement acknowledging the doctors attempts to warn the country and the world about the coronavirus outbreak.

Its been revealed that the CIA has tried to warn the White House about the statistics coming from the Chinese government. Of course Donald Trump just ignored the warning.

Sadly a large swath of the American public will believe the Chinese governments rewrite of history.

The Chinese state is ramping up its English-language media campaigns in a bid to defend the country’s handling of the coronavirus crisis, highlight the failings of western governments, and raise China’s standing on the world stage.
Photographs of Chinese aid – dubbed “facemask diplomacy” – arriving at Heathrow on Saturday including boxes labelled “Keep Calm and Cure Coronavirus” have been promoted to UK audiences by the Xinhua news agency. Some younger Chinese diplomats have used English-language Twitter, which is banned within China, to spread false suggestions that the virus may have been started by the west to discredit the Chinese state.
Prof Kerry Brown, an associate fellow on the Asia-Pacific programme at the thinktank Chatham House, suggested the country was trying to turn a national disaster into a global triumph: “They’re trying to push back against some of the politicisation of this in America and to try to get control of the narrative before it spirals out of control.”
