Keilar calls out GOP members who won't acknowledge Biden's win

 CNN's Brianna Keilar talks about the many GOP officials who said they would acknowledge Joe Biden as president-elect after the Electoral College voted and have yet to recognize the win a day after the vote.

 In the 2000 US presidential election, the Democratic candidate got half a million more votes than the Republican. The Democrat lost. Sixteen years later the same thing happened again. In the US, if you run for president, it does not actually matter how many people in the country vote for you. What matters instead is an arcane system for selecting America’s head of state called the Electoral College.

What does the US Electoral College actually do?

Millions of Americans will vote in the presidential election, but only 538 really count.

As many as 150 million votes are expected to be cast in this year’s US presidential election. But the ones that really count will belong to just 538 people: the presidential electors.

That is who voters are really choosing when they tick a box for Donald Trump or Joe Biden.

Senior executives from the firm at the heart of Facebook’s data breach boasted of playing a key role in bringing Donald Trump to power and said they used “unattributable and untrackable” advertising to support their clients in elections, according to an undercover expose.
In secretly recorded conversations, Cambridge Analytica’s CEO, Alexander Nix, claimed he had met Trump “many times”, while another senior member of staff said the firm was behind the “defeat crooked Hillary” advertising campaign
“We just put information into the bloodstream of the internet and then watch it grow, give it a little push every now and again over time to watch it take shape,” said the executive. “And so this stuff infiltrates the online community, but with no branding, so it’s unattributable, untrackable.”

Throughout the campaign Donald Trump made audacious claims that not only was the election being rigged against him, that the Democratic  primary had also been skewed in the favour of Hillary Clinton.  What he never disclosed was a coordinated campaign to suppress the votes of women and minorities. Remember; Under the American system it's possible (This has happened twice in less than 20 years.) to win the presidential election without winning the popular vote. One simply needs 270 Electoral College votes to win and Donald Trump managed that by winning in 3 crucial by 70,000 votes.

Trump's also used elmails taken from the Democratic National Committee incoordination with Wikileaks to place a question of trust worthiness about Hillary Clinton into voters minds. Never mind they that some those emails were edited in such a manner  to change what they were originally about.

 

Don't "Worry" Donald Trump Is Heading For The Oval Office

With today's Electoral College vote Donald Trump is now officially the winner of the 2016 election for president. In his case that would be demouge in chief.  Even though he is wholly unqualified to hold said office, with a complete lack of governing experience, lacking in knowledge has to how government actually works,  couldn't tell how policy is created or implemented or have any understanding  of foreign policy he still gets to be the most powerful person on the planet.  

Upon ascending to the oval office he'll be in violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution due to his business interests throughout the world. Conversely once he's taken the oath of office his lease with the U.S. government he signed for the Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C. located in the old post office building clearly states that no elected or government offical maybe the lease holder.   This is Donald Trump, who believes that laws and ethics rules simply don't apply to him.

America has a new commander in chief. Who's a racist, a misogynist, religious bigot, homophobic, xenophobic,  narcissistic with a complete lack of self control where criticisms of actions are concerned.  Just think this thin skinned moron will have the world at war simply because he felt slighted by some comment or criticism of him.    

The Electoral College formalized Donald Trump's election victory on Monday despite protests around the country to encourage GOP electors to abandon the Republican.

The president-elect easily racked up the 270 electoral votes needed to send him to the White House. Interest in the normally mundane voting process spiked this year as opposition to Trump continues to fester, fueled by Clinton's success in capturing over 2.6 million more votes than her Republican opponent.

Anti-Trump protesters descended on state capitols throughout the U.S. in a last-ditch effort to persuade so-called "faithless electors" in states Trump won to change their vote. Many of the Republicans casting ballots said they were inundated with calls and emails urging them to dump Trump.

How Does America Elect A President? Not Like You Think

Who can run for and be elected President of the  United States?
Any person 35 years of age or older and is a naturalized U.S. citizen.  (Someone born in the country or its territories or who has one parent who's a citizen.)

Must you belong to a political party?
One doesn't need a party affiliation to seek the presidency.

Are you required to be an elected member of government? Such as a member of the House or Senate.
 No. Ross Perot and Ralph Nader are two examples of independents running for president who had never held elected office.

Who's eligible to vote?
Any citizen 18 years of age or older.  There exceptions. In some states those who've been convicted of a felony are not able to vote.

What is the electoral college?

 Certainly not an institution for higher learning.

As you'll notice California has the most electoral  college votes 54. While  Alaska, Delaware, North and South Dakota, Vermont, Wyoming and Montana have the least at 3 each. Population determines the number of electoral votes for each.  The numbers can change with each census conducted every 10 years. 

There are 538 electoral college votes representing the number of members for both Houses of Congress.  You need 270 electoral college votes to become president.

Can you become president without winning the popular vote?

Yes. The most recent example is George W. Bush in 2000.

Each party with a candidate on the ballot can choose electors.
