Donald Trump To Sign Social Media Executive Order

Donald Trump will today sign an executive order attacking Twitter and Facebook for the crime of Twitter placing a fact check link at the bottom of two tweets which incorrectly stated that mail-in only elections lead to massive voter fraud which clearly isn't true. Oregon which has been conducting vote by mail only elections for more than twenty years has never seen a case of voter emerging from its vote by mail elections.  Donald Trump clearly understands that his chances for reelection are slim so he's taken to twitter in an effort to undermine the integrity of Americas elections.  He believes this lead to his reelection. What's really about to happen is this. His attempt to circumvent the first amendment will only lead to lawsuits and embarrassment when in loses in court. Sadly his sycophantic supporters and the rightwing media in the U.S. will follow him over this cliff as they have fallen to far down the rabbit hole to change course now.

Donald Trump is preparing to sign an executive order that could erode legal protections for social media companies for content posted on their platforms.
The move would also allow federal regulators and state-level prosecutors to sanction companies that in the government’s judgment are not even-handed in their editorial practices.
The anticipated executive order, confirmed by the White House press secretary to reporters on Wednesday night, is the president’s latest blow in an escalating battle with big tech companies including Twitter and Facebook.

To People Who Don't Understand The 1st Amendment Of The U.S.

First:  Social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter among many others aren't covered by the 1st amendment as they are private companies. Thus they set the terms of use not the U.S. government.   So, with James Woods being suspended by Twitter for violations of its terms is not an infringement on his rights to free speech.

As noted earlier KUOW the NPR station decided to stop airing the coronavirus briefings because of misinformation and false hoods.  This does not mean that the briefings have been blacklisted a term from the Red Scare era of Sen. Joseph McCarthy.  The station clearly stated that they would report on relevant facts disseminated from the briefings.   American broadcasters have no obligation to air live briefings  by the president or anyone else.

The Very Stable Genius Excludes CNN From Annual Lunch

Trump continues his petty, vindictive and immature war against the free press.  In his latest petulant temper tantrum he's excluded CNN from the annual networks anchors lunch that proceeds the State of the Union Speech.  Unlike yesterday in the UK when Downing street tried to exclude journalists from certain outlets from a press briefing the Political journalists boycotted the event.  Thus showing solidarity with their fellow journalists.  Of course, this being America the other networks craving access rather than protesting against or announcing a boycott in support of CNN exclusion.

What will it take for the American press to stand up to Donald Trump and his attempts to subvert Americas first amendment and support those who are threatened and mistreated by him.  One can only that will come after journalists are jailed at which point it will be to late.

Trump says Pompeo 'did a good job' on NPR reporter

Unveiling his administration’s Israeli-Palestinian peace proposal, Trump praised secretary of state Mike Pompeo, who has become involved in a protracted feud with NPR after engaging in a contentious interview with reporter Marie Louise Kelly.
“That was very impressive,” Trump said after the gathered audience clapped for Pompeo. “That reporter couldn’t have done too good a job on you yesterday. I think you did a good job on her, actually.”

Donald Trump and his band of would be authoritarian rulers have long sought ways to curb the press and the right to free speech.  Their willingness to embrace dictators, autocrats and other authoritarian rulers  in their quest to squash journalists and news outlets which aren't favourable in their coverage of Trump's candidacy and his administration has been on full display from the moment he rode that ridiculous golden escalator down to the press conference announcing his campaign for president in June 2015.

Donald Rump has called the press the enemy of the people, fake news, encouraged his supporters to attack the press along with too many other outrages to list in his continuing quest to intimidate the American media into compliance.
So its not surprising that Donald Trump would make such a public statement.

Donnie The Dictator Doesn't Like Free Speech

It seems that Donnie The Dictator and his merry band of fascists don't want Americans exercising their constitutionally mandated right to voice their opposition to his incoming authoritarian government.  So, in move to protect their sensitive senseabilities they've asked the U.S. National Park Service to deny or block all permits for any person or group voicing  their objections to Dictator Donnie.  So, from now until March 1, 2017 all protests are banned.

There’s been a long history of rallies taking place at the Lincoln Memorial in D.C., including civil rights and anti–Vietnam War protests. However, women marching on Washington the day after Donald Trump’s inauguration won’t get the same opportunity, as the National Parks Service has blocked access to the Lincoln Memorial.
The Guardian reports that the NPS, on behalf of the Presidential Inauguration Committee, filed a “massive omnibus blocking permit” to block off much of the National Mall, Pennsylvania Avenue, the Washington Monument, and the Lincoln Memorial for the inauguration. The permit secures these public spots for “days and weeks before and after” the January 20 event, which means the locations won’t be available for protests.
Shortly after the election, women across the country came together to organize a Women’s March on Washington for January 21. The march was set to be held at the Lincoln Memorial, and 136,000 women have already RSVP’d on Facebook. However, given the NPS’s decision to block access to the famous spot, the rally will have to find a different home. Cassady Fendlay, a spokesperson for the women’s march, told The Guardian that the group is in conversations with the police, and that they have secured another location nearby.

The Ferguson Police: Continue To Subvert Americas First Amendment

It would seem the Ferguson Missouri police department believes that violating the constitutional rights of not only  the citizens of that city is within their police mandate but that they have the right to intimidate, suppress and circumvent the rights of the press to report on an event which has torn open the reality of racial discrimination in the United States no matter how much conservatives want you to believe all this bs ended with the election of Barack Obama.
