Unveiling his administration’s Israeli-Palestinian peace proposal, Trump praised secretary of state Mike Pompeo, who has become involved in a protracted feud with NPR after engaging in a contentious interview with reporter Marie Louise Kelly.
“That was very impressive,” Trump said after the gathered audience clapped for Pompeo. “That reporter couldn’t have done too good a job on you yesterday. I think you did a good job on her, actually.”
Donald Trump and his band of would be authoritarian rulers have long sought ways to curb the press and the right to free speech. Their willingness to embrace dictators, autocrats and other authoritarian rulers in their quest to squash journalists and news outlets which aren't favourable in their coverage of Trump's candidacy and his administration has been on full display from the moment he rode that ridiculous golden escalator down to the press conference announcing his campaign for president in June 2015.
Donald Rump has called the press the enemy of the people, fake news, encouraged his supporters to attack the press along with too many other outrages to list in his continuing quest to intimidate the American media into compliance.
So its not surprising that Donald Trump would make such a public statement.
