The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 1,700 points Thursday morning after President Donald Trump’s long-awaited response to the coronavirus epidemic triggered a massive sell-off on Wall Street.

The S&P 500 plunged by 7 percent, triggering a circuit breaker, which halts all trading on the New York Stock Exchange for 15 minutes.

All three major averages sank after Trump’s Oval Office address Wednesday night failed to satisfy traders who were hoping for more concrete steps to reduce any economic slowdown from the viral outbreak.

The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling, upheld President Donald Trump's restriction on travel to the United States from a handful of Muslim countries on Tuesday, giving the White House its first high court victory on the merits of a presidential initiative.

After a series of federal court rulings invalidated or scaled back earlier versions of the travel ban, the decision is a big win for the administration and ends 15 months of legal battles over a key part of Trump's immigration policy, which opponents attacked as a dressed-up form of the Muslim ban that Trump promised during his 2016 campaign.

Imposed last September by presidential proclamation, the latest version maintains limits on granting visas to travelers from five of the seven countries covered by the original executive order on travel — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. It lifts restrictions on visitors from Sudan, and it adds new limits on North Korea and Venezuela.

Donald Trump Doesn't Offer Sympathy After London: He Offers Up Racism

Donald Trump is using the attack in London to once again advocate for his ridiculous racist ban on Muslims entering the United States.  According to him they should face extreme vetting.  Whatever that may be. He's had more than 120 days in which to implement such a program, yet there's no policy in place.  Donald Trump is nothing more than a racist and a bully who uses these kinds of incidents to promote his 19th century way of thinking. Sadly his most ardent supporters will agree with him.   Of course he does this without having all the necessary facts. Like earlier this week when, without knowing what was happening in Manila called the incident at the casino a terrorist attack when in fact it was an attempted robbery gone wrong.  

In one of his tweets on the subject he stated that the court's needed to give us back our rights.

Except that in America one's rights aren't given to them by the courts.  That happens through the constitution.

Department of Justice won't rule tonight

The Department of Justice has reportedly said it will not act tonight to counter the Washington state court ruling, so there won’t be any legal challenge until Saturday at the latest. It’s unclear on what grounds the justice department might appeal the ruling.

The ruling in Washington has created confusion about travellers about which ruling applies to them. The US Customs & Border Protection agency told American airlines that they can once again board travellers who had been barred by an executive order last week. But it’s unclear what it means as yet to travellers who are stuck overseas.
