Videos Show Nancy Pelosi's Reaction During The January 6 Capitol Riot

The January 6 committee played video of House Speaker Pelosi speaking on the phone with vice president Mike Pence as she and other members of Congress hid in the Capitol from pro-Trump insurrectionists. The video was shot by Pelosi's daughter, Alexandra Pelosi, a source familiar tells NBC News.

During this time. The orange stain is gleefully watching TV and refusing to perform the duties of his office.

The Stable Genius Is Acquitted

In huge banner headlines both the Washington Post and the New York Times simply printed Trump Acquitted.  Gee, was there some kind of suspense as to the out of the Senates vote to acquit?  No.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell  announced back in December without any sort of embarrassment or shame that he was working closely with the White House to ensure that Donald Trump would never be convicted and removed from office.   The world watched as Republican Senators contorted themselves into shapes never before seen to justify their coming vote to acquit.  Several of these fools actually admitted that what Trump had done was wrong.   One can only assume that when Alan Dershowitz announced during the trial that, in the public interest a president during an election could do whatever it took to gain reelection has now come to fruition with Trump's exoneration by Senate Republicans.  Perhaps  the stable genius with the help of his Republican sycophants can move America towards the one party dictatorship they've always dreamed of.

U.S. Senate Votes Against Witnesses In Trump's Impeachment Trial

The senators cast their votes by roll call, with everyone voting as expected. The Senate voted 51-49 against calling additional documents and witnesses in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump.
The Democrats and two Republicans — Mitt Romney and Susan Collins — voted to hear additional testimony. The remaining Republicans voted against the motion.
Senators will now be taking a recess for an undefined amount of time.

A Show Trial With No Show Or Trial

In The 1930's after Joseph Stalin won his power struggle for  control of the Soviet Union over his rival Leon Trotsky.  Stalin felt a need to fully consolidate his control of government.  How do to that?  Show trials.   A series of trials were held in which those individuals or groups perceived as political rivals were put in the dock.  Even the though the evidence and witnesses against the accused was tainted it mattered not.  It was the spectacle that gave credence to the proceeding's allowing for the preordained outcome to be accepted.

For the last week there has been a trial in the U.S. Senate for the removable of Donald Trump from office except there's been no show or trial.  One would think that Mitch McConnell having telegraphed the preordained outcome he would have at least put on a good show and provided phony evidence to help perpetuate the lie.

Creating An Autocracy In Full Public View

With the opening of Donald Trump's impeachment trial last Tuesday in the U.S. Senate its become quite apparent that with the Republican party is willfully assisting in the creation of an autocracy.   While this may seem like chicken little and the sky is falling or the boy that cried wolf it isn't.  In their opening statements Trump's impeachment council asserted that the constitution and the rule of law aren't applicable.  This coincides with the defense used by House Republicans during the Judicial Committee hearings in December of 2019.    Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer proffered amendments on the trials first day asking simply that the Senate vote allow relevant   witnesses and evidence from the prosecution and defense be allowed.   All 11 amendments were voted down along party lines.  If was the constant refrain and complaint House Republicans that House Democrats blocked such submissions, when in fact it was the White House under the direction of Donald Trump to not cooperate with the investigation by blocking witnesses from testifying and the submission of documents.

As for creating an autocracy in the title:  When Donald Trump first began asserting that he was unencumbered by the checks and balances written into the constitution and that the rule of law didn't apply as he was president many of course stated that that was completely ridiculous.  Yet, these absurd views  have gain mainstream acceptance.

Given that acceptance the usurpation of the constitution has began and will continue unabated as Senate Majority Mitch McConnell preordained following his impeachment by the House that Donald Trump would be acquitted no matter the evidence.  If this follows its logical course Americas constitution and the Republic which it help to create and supported for over 200 years will come to an end and Donald Trump will become Americas first autocrat.

Trump says he'll sign spending deal on border security, declare national emergency

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell has announced that Donald Trump will sigh the compromise government spending bill and then declare a national emergency at the U.S. Southern border.   What began as an applause line, somehow morphed into a wall at the U.S. Mexico border which Mexico would pay for to one which the U.S. tax payer will now foot the bill.  The wall is unnecessary and won't halt migrants attempting to reach the U.S.  That isn't the point.  Donald Trump who, upon announcing his candidacy didn't use the normal platitudes. Instead he launched into a racist attack on Mexicans who come to the U.S.   Donald Trump, the Republican party and its hard core aupporters are racists.  People who live in abject fear of the other and any kind of change.  Especially that which leads to the empowerment of minorities.  For Donald Trump and his sycphants its all about white privilege.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Thursday afternoon that President Donald Trump will sign a government spending package that resulted from bipartisan negotiations over border security and also will declare a national emergency, which Trump has intended to use to obtain more money for his proposed wall.
"I just had an opportunity to speak with President Trump and he’s prepared to sign the bill," McConnell, R-Ky., said on the Senate floor. "He will also be signing a national emergency declaration at the same time."
After the Senate votes, the House is also expected to pass the spending package.

Supreme Court upholds Trump travel ban

The state of Hawaii, three of its residents, and a Muslim-American group challenged the new restrictions, and a federal judge blocked

The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling, upheld President Donald Trump's restriction on travel to the United States from a handful of Muslim countries on Tuesday, giving the White House its first high court victory on the merits of a presidential initiative.
After a series of federal court rulings invalidated or scaled back earlier versions of the travel ban, the decision is a big win for the administration and ends 15 months of legal battles over a key part of Trump's immigration policy, which opponents attacked as a dressed-up form of the Muslim ban that Trump promised during his 2016 campaign.
Imposed last September by presidential proclamation, the latest version maintains limits on granting visas to travelers from five of the seven countries covered by the original executive order on travel — Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. It lifts restrictions on visitors from Sudan, and it adds new limits on North Korea and Venezuela.
