The Mighty River of Ignorance and Stupidity Continues to Flow

NHK governor praises rightist's suicide in 1993 as glorifying emperor

So, many people outside of Japan praise Shinzo Abe for his policies yet he manages to appoint losers like Michiko Hasegawa to the Board of Governors for NHK.

In an essay distributed in October, a month before her appointment at NHK, Michiko Hasegawa praised Shusuke Nomura, an extreme nationalist who committed ritual suicide in the offices of the liberal Asahi newspaper in 1993 in protest at its mockery of his right-wing group.Since at least feudal times, suicide has been seen as a way of preserving honor in Japan. Famously, right-wing author Yukio Mishima disemboweled himself after a failed coup attempt.
“It is only to God human beings can offer their own lives,” she wrote in the document, which has been posted online and was reported in Wednesday’s edition of the Mainichi Shimbun.

Masuzoe says he wants to make Tokyo No. 1 city in world

There's only one problem Yoichi Masuzoe doesn't want to include women in this vision.

In 1989, he told a men’s magazine that it would not be proper to have women at the highest level of government because their menstrual cycle makes them irrational.
“Women are not normal when they are having a period… You can’t possibly let them make critical decisions about the country (during their period) such as whether or not to go to war,” he said.
Mr. Misogynist  wants to exclude women from politics well because they're women and they have different physiologies than men.

Only around a third of eligible voters cast their ballots, media reported, down about 10 percentage points on the last election. The city’s 13 million inhabitants had been hit with the heaviest snowfall in nearly half a century on Saturday. Despite a rapid thaw on polling day, many streets remained treacherous.
“I want to make Tokyo the number one city of the world, in areas including disaster prevention, welfare and the economy,” Masuzoe told reporters as the scale of his victory became apparent.
Even though less than half of those eligible actually voted this fool will, like George W. Bush in 2004 claim he has a mandate to do whatever he likes.
