The Week That Was

As last week began Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was on the verge of achieving his blast to the past fantasy.   Like most people who refuse to live in the present Japans Liberal Democartic Party believes that by revsing history they can return Japan to the glory days.

So, on Tuseday without the consent of the people or the Diet the cabinet agreed to change Japans constitution.  Even though those changes require a 2/3 vort by the parliment and a national referredum voted on by the people.  What is Shinzo Abe's and the Liberal Democratics party dream?  To allow Japans armed forces to particpate in actual combat.  Even though under article 9 of the constitution that is strickly prohibited.

On Thursday Xi Jinping in a speech at Seoul National univesity attacked Japan's war past to a rappurous audience which included the President of South Korea Park Geun-hye.  As any person familar with indoctranation knows the best way to achieve results is to keep hammering home the message no matter how absurd.  Xi Jinping of course failed to mentioned his owen governments ahorant human rigths record.

Meanwhile in the South China sea China continues to piss off every country in the region. They further inflamed tensisons by issuing a new map which showed the whole of the area claimed by China.  In one of the most ironic statements of the year Chinas foreign ministry claimed the map was for "domestic consumsion."  Sure it was.

Facing a continued wave of imigrtion from various parts of South Asia the Australian government has refused to allow Tamil refugees from Sri Lanka to land turning them over to the Sri Lankin navy.

Sri Lanka has a horrible hunman rights record where its Tamil population is concerned. In the 1950's the government passed and enfocred laws which prohibited the speaking of the Tamil language and the promotion of its culture which led to several decades of civil war.
