North Korea: And The Actions That Won't Be Taken

Every spring the U.S. and South Korea hold joint military training exercises and without fail North Korea makes some bizarre threat that will never be carried.  In past years they've threatened to burn the U.S. and South Korea in a lake of fire, to nuclear the U.S. mainland and to unleash the full might of its military on the North's enemies.  Yet, it never happens.  Were Kim Jong-un to order any military attack upon U.S. and South Korean forces how long do you believe that Kim Jong-un would remain in power?

It's all just bellicose b.s to whip-up the masses in North Korea and a means to show that Kim Jong-un is a mighty military leader.  Kim and his sycophants aren't going to set in motion policies which will deprive them of their special status.

People always ask: Why doesn't China North Korea's only true allie just pull the rug out and let the government collapse.  Because China fears what comes next.  A unified Korea with American military forces still stationed there which Beijing would view as a threat.  Refugees flooding across the border into areas in China where large numbers of ethnic Koreans reside and the inability to control them or the influx. China views this as a threat to the stability of Northeast Asia. And there is the economic collapse of North Korea which China is unwilling precipitate.

North Korea isn't going away anytime soon as much as people wish it would because China won't allow it.
