A first-hand account obtained by CNN

Sudanese teenager Noura Hussein who is on death row for killing her 35-year-old husband, in a case that has sparked international outrage, has spoken out for the first time about her forced marriage, and the rape and struggle that happened when she stabbed him.
CNN obtained a first-hand account from the 19-year-old, who is currently awaiting retrial in an Omdurman prison cell after appealing her death sentence.

Parody of Chinese president covered human rights abuses and memes comparing Xi’s figure with Winnie the Pooh

New posts mentioning his name or the show have been blocked on the microblogging site Weibo.

Students return to school in quake-hit Osaka as anxieties continue

Today  04:40 pm JST
The school attended by a 9-year-old girl who died after a powerful earthquake in Osaka this week reopened Thursday, as grief and anxieties persist among pupils and local residents.
"I am really saddened," Yoshimi Tanaka, principal of the school in the city of Takatsuki, Osaka Prefecture, told an assembly with pupils. "I cannot forget her -- she was always surrounded by friends and looked happy."
Some pupils shed tears during the meeting at Juei Elementary School where Rina Miyake used to study, according to city officials.
The school needed more time for safety checks before its resumption unlike most elementary schools in the city, which had opened on Wednesday.
