The Democratic Party is the longest-existing political party in the US, and arguably the world. But in its over 180 year existence, it's completed a remarkable ideological and geographic transformation.

Why are some Republicans urging voters to vote Democrat?

Anthony Scaramucci, who famously worked in Trump's White House for 11 days, on why Americans should reject Trumpism.

Hedge fund manager Anthony Scaramucci - aka "The Mooch" - campaigned vigorously for candidate Donald Trump during the last US election, and was hired as White House communications director in 2017.
A few days later, he was fired.
He remained loyal to his ex-boss after his departure, but says that Trump's tweet last year demeaning "The Squad" - a group of four Democratic Congresswomen of colour, including Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - "was a bridge too far for me".

America's Divided Democrats

A look at Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders on the campaign trail as they battle for the future of the US Democratic party.

The United States Democratic Party appeared deeply divided during the 2020 presidential primary election. Two candidates emerged as the front-runners and put forward very different visions for the country's future.
Bernie Sanders energised large crowds, pushing for a Green New Deal to address the climate crisis, Medicare for All and tuition-free public college.
Joe Biden led the centrist lane with support from the Democratic establishment. Moderates believed Biden had the best chance to put together a coalition of supporters who could defeat President Donald Trump in the general election.

Donald Trump Calls The Coronavirus Outbreak A Democratic Hoax

Given Donald Trump's ability to deny that which is directly in front of him and can be proven as fact. One might believe for a fleeting moment that he might, just might come back to reality and have a more proactive  attitude towards the coronavirus outbreak.  You'd be completely and utterly wrong.  At one of his wannabe Nurnberg rallies in North Carolina he proclaimed the coronavirus outbreak to be a Democratic hoax. Like every other situation in which his fragile ego is damaged by those pointing out the various illegalities, rash decisions, inappropriate language and insults and complete incompetence he reverts to his tried and true language  of denial by calling it a hoax. Thereby assuaging his and his sycophantic supporters egos.

This his administrations first true global crisis and, they haven't acquitted themselves by showing any type of actual leadership or concern for the citizens as they are constitutionally required to do by their oath of course.  Which doesn't include I will do anything to protect may own self interests and chances for reelection.  Yet, they are doing just that.  Showing actual governing competence and leadership would be nice.  Don't hold your breath.

The Strange Death of American Civility

We investigate how the toxic partisan divisions of the Trump era have eroded civil norms vital for US democracy.

Part 1: Democrats vs Republicans

The United States seems more disunited than at any point in recent history - its politics so undermined by partisan divisions that consensus on almost anything is impossible to achieve.
Toxic partisanship between Democrats and Republicans - the nation's two main parties - has soared under President Donald Trump's administration - worsening since the release of then-Special Counsel Robert Mueller's report on his investigation of Trump and Russian interference in the 2016 elections that brought him to power.

From white supremacy to Barack Obama: The history of the Democratic Party

The Democratic Party is the longest-existing political party in the US, and arguably the world. But in its over 180 year existence, it's completed a remarkable ideological and geographic transformation. Originally a staunch defender of Southern slavery, the party now wins the support of most nonwhite voters. Once an advocate of rural interests against coastal elites, the party now draws much of its strength from cities and coastal areas. This video tells the tale of the Democratic Party's origins, its various metamorphoses, and the sources of its strength — and weaknesses — today.

America Elects A Demagogue : Donald Trump

In a complete repudiation of good governance and what can only be seen as a longing for an authoritarian ruler  American voters elected Donald Trump President.

Here's a person who's embolden racists, isolationists and bigots of all stripes.  A man who has no understanding of how the American government works or how policy is implemented.  A man who doesn't understand or want to know any of the basic concepts affecting domestic and foreign policy.  In the area of domestic policy Donald Trump has advocated for the deportation of all 11 million people living in America who are undocumented  and for building a wall along America's southern border.  (The Berlin Wall lives.)  In the area of foreign policy he has on several occasions stated that America's military wouldn't just go after the world's terrorists but their families as well, stating they should also be killed. (That's a war crime.)  As for America's military alliances? Well, you'd better pay up.   He once pronounced NATO as obsolete and that America's continued involvement would be predicated upon member states paying fees to America.  Can a like a protection racket.   Donald Trump thinks that South Korea and Japan should have their own nuclear arsenals even though neither country wants them. He also wonders why America can't  just use its nuclear weapons simply because the U.S. has them.

During the second Presidential debate Donald Trump stated that if elected he would arrest and imprison Hillary Clinton even though she's never been charged with any criminal offense.  Authoritarian rulers do that not American President's unless you're  Donald Trump.

He's called America's press liars and claimed they were biased against him.  During the campaign Donald Trump has advocated going after those media outlets he believes have broadcast or printed unfavourable stories about him.  Will he go the way of Turkey's Erdogan and start shutting down opposition media  outlets and arresting and imprisoning journalists?  To say that he won't would be a fool's errand.

Donald Trump has no business leading America or the world.  He's incapable of doing so because he's thin skinned,  can't handle criticism, views any slight as a personal attack and if wronged has the extremely bad habit of wanting revenge and won't stop until he has it.

Welcome To Donald Trump's America.
