Late Night Ignoring Asia

Blinded by the light

Police said Thursday that a patrol car was set alight in Yachimata, Chiba Prefecture, while officers were working nearby.
The patrol car was found burning in the car park of a police koban at around 3 a.m. on Wednesday, TV Asahi reported. The fire damaged the front tire and part of the bumper, police said.
At the time of the incident, none of the 10 officers working near the station reported seeing the arsonist and the motion sensor on the fence surrounding the station was not triggered. Police say the station’s CCTV camera footage will be reviewed.

However, Taiwanese respondents felt the nation’s most corrupt institutions are the Legislative Yuan and political parties, followed by the media, the Berlin-based TI’s local branch said.
Transparency International Chinese Taipei said TI commissioned the Gallup Poll to interview 114,000 people in 107 nations between September last year and March on their perceptions of institutions in their countries and how their governments were battling corruption.

So who are the real criminals?

The Congress, BJP and other political outfits which have welcomed the Supreme Court’s move to cleanse Indian politics have been fielding candidates with criminal antecedents. At this juncture, there are over 1,400 legislators who have declared criminal cases against themselves in their self-sworn affidavits.
A study carried out by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) on 4,807 legislators revealed that a total of 1,460 MPs and MLAs have declared criminal cases against themselves.
Of the 1,460 legislators, 688 MPs and MLAs have “serious criminal cases” ranging from murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and extortion pending against them.

Only the people you've always knew:  Your elected representatives.
