Late Night Ignoring Asia

Asshole doesn't want to pay taxes

A 63-year-old man angry over a tax dispute used Molotov cocktails to set fire to City Hall in Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture, on Friday morning, injuring at least five people, police and firefighters said.
Shoji Takahashi, who was arrested at the scene, allegedly told investigators, “I did it because I was frustrated.”
Authorities had in 2012 seized Takahashi’s bankbook and other assets over his nonpayment of property tax on his condominium. He had told a city official before the arrest, “My life has been messed up as you have seized (my belongings),” according to the municipal government.

So he sets city hall on fire

Politician says something stupid

The parliamentary spokesman of South Korea's main opposition party resigned under pressure Friday, taking responsibility for making what was perceived by critics as a disparaging remark against the family of President Park Geun-hye.
Citing a book he read, Rep. Hong Ihk-pyo, the parliamentary spokesman for the Democratic Party (DP), on Thursday called Park's father, former President Park Chung-hee, a "gwitae," or a "baby born to a ghost," meaning that he should not have been born.

I know you're just "shocked" by this

Government questions whether it's to corrupt

The findings of Transparency International’s (TI) 2013 Global Corruption Barometer, which included Taiwan among the most corrupt nations in the world, were called into question yesterday by the government as Premier Jiang Yi-huah (江宜樺) demanded that the Ministry of Justice’s Agency Against Corruption contact the organization to request its methodology and rectify its survey results.
Executive Yuan spokesperson Cheng Li-wun (鄭麗文) said the survey did not accurately reflect the situation in Taiwan and the allegedly inaccurate results could be attributed to the Hong Kong-registered company in Shanghai, China, that conducted the survey.

Or, not corrupt enough
