At least nine Palestinians have been killed after Israel launched a large-scale ground and air attack on the northern part of the occupied West Bank, according to health officials in the territory.
The incursion, which began early on Wednesday, involved hundreds of ground soldiers supported by fighter aircraft, drones and bulldozers, targeting three areas simultaneously – Jenin, Tulkarem and Tubas – in the largest assault in two decades.

Two men in Sweden will be put on trial for setting fire to a Quran last year, prosecutors said on Wednesday.
The Quran burnings drew outrage in the Muslim world and raised fears of reprisal attacks in Sweden.
Many Muslims see the Quran as the literal word of God and as such, desecrating it represents a grave offense.
But critics have said Sweden, one of the most liberal countries in the world, should treat Quran burnings as a form of free speech protected by law.

It may be an innocent enough racquet sport, but Hong Kong's Education Bureau has unintentionally given badminton a whole new meaning.
In teaching materials it released last week, a module titled adolescents and intimate relationships for Secondary Year 3, suggested that teenagers who wanted to have sex with each other could "go out to play badminton together" instead.
The materials also include a form called "My Commitment" aimed at getting "young lovers" to attest that they would exercise "self-discipline, self-control, and resistance to pornography".
