Donald Trump Is Not A "great" Leader

Donald Trump would like you to see him in this time of national and international crisis due to the coronavirus as figure equal Winston Churchill or Franklin Roosevelt.  Both of whom, rally their countries at lowest point during the Second World War and, who,  through shared sacrifice and work  helped lead their nations and the world to victory over Nazi Germany, Italy and Imperial Japan.  Donald Trump is not have the intellectual or emotional capacity to achieve the stature of leadership shown by Roosevelt and Churchill.  He's far to needy, insecure, lacking in confidence and far to  extremely narcissistic to achieve one tenth of the acclaim as leader during a world war or global pandemic.

China reported its first case of, what is now covid19 in December of 2019.  In mid January the full extent of crisis came into view when the number of known cases exploded in Hubei Provence and the city of Wuhan which was the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak.  With this information and the fact that the Trump administration had held several high level meetings on the outbreak Donald Trump down played its scope and severity.  Even after the first death was reported he continued to act as though he could bully a virus and into submission and lie about its ability to spread and its lethality.  On February he said this about the number of coronavirus cases in the U.S.

"[W]hen you have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that's a pretty good job we've done."

On the same day that he made the above statement in said this at a campaign rally in South Carolina.

Now the Democrats are politicizing the coronavirus. You know that, right? Coronavirus. They’re politicizing it. We did one of the great jobs. You say, ‘How’s President Trump doing?’ They go, ‘Oh, not good, not good.’ They have no clue. They don’t have any clue. They can’t even count their votes in Iowa, they can’t even count. No they can’t. They can’t count their votes.

He continued his remarks by complaining about his usual grievances. So, I won't torture you any further.

Donald Trump continued his happy talk on the coronavirus outbreak expressly where numbers were concerned.  Given that he's supposedly the elected leader of America that his overarching concerns would gravitate towards the well being of the countries citizens.

'I like the numbers being where they are

He's referencing the passengers of the Grand Princess cruise that was then anchored just off the Northern California coast with 35 passengers infected with covid19.  He preferred that they not be allowed to disembark because it would raise the number of cases in the U.S. for which he didn't want to take any responsibility.

'I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault'

Those weren't the only numbers he was obsessed about. His concern for American citizens and their plight because of the coronavirus outbreak  were not important. What was important to him? The Stock Market and how it would effect his reelection chances.

As the pandemic has worsened in the U.S. Donald Trump managed for a single day to show empathy for a country caught up in this unimaginable crisis. A single day.

He'll never, (as stated during recently during a coronavirus update)  ever take responsibility for his administrations abysmal response to the covid19 outbreak.
