Donald Trump has once again taken to twitter to rage at General Motors because they haven't started producing ventilators. How naive or perhaps obtuse does one have to be about how assembly lines actually work? Neither General Motors, Ford or any other automobile manufacturer can just simply start production of ventilators as that would require a complete retooling of those assembly lines. Without the invocation of the Defense Production Act allowing the government to cover some of the costs of the retooling. Last night on Fox News he claimed that the number of actual ventilators needed wasn't in based on reality. Even though the evidence proves otherwise as doctors and nurses across the country have begged for more ventilators and personnel protective equipment.
It' just been reported that Donald Trump will enact the Defense Production Act after push back from all political and corporate quarters.
General Motors MUST immediately open their stupidly abandoned Lordstown plant in Ohio, or some other plant, and START MAKING VENTILATORS, NOW!!!!!! FORD, GET GOING ON VENTILATORS, FAST!!!!!!General Motors doesn't actually own the plant so they just can't reopen it.
