Why Israel ordered yet another evacuation of Gaza’s Khan Younis

Quarter of a million Palestinians in Khan Younis are terrified again as a renewed Israeli ground operation looms.

For nearly nine months, Israel’s war on Gaza has forced Palestinians to run from place to place in search of pockets of safety in the besieged Strip.

Israel’s latest mass evacuation order told 250,000 displaced people in Khan Younis, Gaza’s second-largest city, to leave, as it carries out renewed attacks in southern Gaza.

The order comes as fierce fighting traps Palestinians in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, and the Shujayea neighbourhood in Gaza City in the north.

At least 200 candidates have stood down ahead of France's runoff election as President Emmanuel Macron and a left-wing coalition seek to block the far right, an AFP tally showed on Tuesday. The rivals are hoping that tactical withdrawals ahead of the runoff on Sunday will prevent the far-right National Rally party of Marine Le Pen winning an absolute majority of 289 seats in the 577-seat National Assembly.

Noting that foreign nations have been working on utilizing AI, the government document said it "could determine the situation of conflicts in the near future, as has been pointed out."

Britain is broken. Can anyone fix it?

There is a hole on the top of Rishi Sunak’s head. Roger Bairstow thrusts his index finger inside, presses his palm around the prime minister’s ears, and thumps him hard on the table.

“It’s been non-stop,” he exclaims through a mischievous grin. “It’s just been go, go, go: one prime minister after another.”

Next to Sunak are four other clay figures, each five inches in height, each dethroned by the person to their right. “The gang,” Bairstow calls them: Liz Truss, Boris Johnson, Theresa May, and David Cameron. He crafted each one by hand.
