Is America A Melting Pot? Not If Your A Republican.

To say that America is a melting of people from the far coiners of this earth is a vast understatement. New York is probably the most diverse on the planet yet to members of America's Republican party that very notion is frightening.

Proposed by a Republican State Senator and championed by Republican governor Jan Brewer Arizona Senate Bill 1070 would have required all people within the boarders of the state to have identifying documents proving they have the legal right to be in the United States.
For any lawful contact made by a law enforcement official or agency of this state or a county, city, town or other political subdivision of this state where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is an alien who is unlawfully present in the United States, a reasonable attempt shall be made, when practicable, to determine the immigration status of the person.

During last months elections the voters of Oklahoma voted overwhelmingly to enact a referendum which banned the use of Sharia Law. Given that America is based upon the Rule of Law not on religious beliefs or religion. As is set out in the establishment clause known as the First Amendment
This measure amends the State Constitution. It changes a section that deals with the courts of this state. It would amend Article 7, Section 1. It makes courts rely on federal and state law when deciding cases. It forbids courts from considering or using international law. It forbids courts from considering or using Sharia Law.
International law is also known as the law of nations. It deals with the conduct of international organizations and independent nations, such as countries, states and tribes. It deals with their relationship with each other. It also deals with some of their relationships with persons.
The law of nations is formed by the general assent of civilized nations. Sources of international law also include international agreements, as well as treaties.
Sharia Law is Islamic law. It is based on two principal sources, the Koran and the teaching of Mohammed.
Shall the proposal be approved?

Today the U.S. Senate was to vote on the Dream Act which would have allowed the children of illegal immigrants who have never violated a law would be allowed to attended university or serve in the military leading to citizenship. Republicans using the arcane rules of the senate blocked a vote on the legislation.
During the first six years, qualifying illegal immigrants would be granted "conditional" status and would be required to (a) graduate from a two-year community college or complete at least two years towards a 4-year degree or (b) serve two years in the U.S. military. After this six year period, those who meet at least one of these three conditions would be eligible to apply for legal permanent resident status. During this six year conditional period, they would not be eligible for federal higher education grants such as Pell grants but they would be able to apply for student loans and work study.[16]
If the illegal immigrants did not meet the educational or military service requirement within the six year time period, their temporary residency would be revoked and they could be deported. They also must not commit any crimes other than those considered non-drug related misdemeanors, regardless of whether or not they have already been approved for permanent status at the end of their six years. Being convicted of a major crime or drug-related infraction would automatically remove the six year temporary residence status and they would be subject to deportation.
Republicans in America have always stated that America is a welcoming country their actions speak to hypocritical b.s. They are on the face of it isolationists and racists. Believing that only those who are wealthy and white are welcome.
