Quake rocks southwest Pakistan
No immediate reports of casualties after magnitude 7.4 earthquake strikes remote area of Baluchistan province.
A magnitude 7.4 earthquake has struck a remote area of Pakistan's Baluchistan province, the US Geological Survey said.
It said the quake was very shallow at a depth of 10km. It struck 55km west of Dalbandin at 1:23am local time on Wednesday (2023 GMT on Tuesday).
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the remote area in the southwest of the country.
A major quake of this magnitude is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.
On October 8, 2005, a 7.6 magnitude quake 95km northeast of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, killed more than 70,000 people.
