As an appalled public looked on, Prime Minister Naoto Kan and political heavyweight Ichiro Ozawa refused to budge in their confrontation over Ozawa's imminent mandatory indictment over questionable political fund reports.
In his first news conference of the year, Kan advised Ozawa to resign his Lower House seat when he is indicted.
During a TV interview Tuesday, Ozawa snapped back that Kan should concentrate on pushing through policies to help the people rather than pestering him to resign. He also made it clear he thought he could do a better job as prime minister.
"I have never broken a promise made with the opposition parties," Ozawa said. "To sincerely build a relationship of trust is important for dealing with both domestic and foreign policy issues."

With Leadership Like This Perhaps Idiots Would Be Better
Sometimes one wonders how an idiot and a fool obtained there positions of responsibility which effect not a limited number of people but a nation. Naoto Kan Prime Minister of Japan complains about former Democratic Party of Japan General Secretary Ichiro Ozawa and his intransience over his refusal to appear before the Diets ethics panel. Leadership does not include wringing of the hands and the inability to act decisively whose leading the government Naoto Kan or Ichiro Ozawa? Further the regular Diet session is too open this month because whining and complaining seem to achieve more than actual leadership no can say when this will happen due too the inability of the ruling party too act like it’s the ruling party.
