What Has The Digital World Wrought?

A group of friends get on the train, but instead of having a conversation with each other they take out their mobile phones and proceed to email other friends. Or you are a Facebook member in your quest to be popular you befriend anyone person who asks it matters not that interpersonal contact is non existent because they have you their friend. People require interpersonal contact because we are social creatures yet in the last 20 years we’ve moved away from that which is inherent to create a virtual world leaving the real one far behind.
While constructing a virtual world may appeal to our sense of escapism and fantasy we still must exist in the real one no matter how hard we try to escape it. There’s nothing wrong with escapism and fantasy as they help fuel ones imagination and creativity but what happens when emersion becomes reality?

Finding a balance between these two separate worlds usually occurs without out any thought but as our world moves deeper and deeper into the digital era the possibility of falling through to the virtual world with no means of escape becomes all to real.
